Learning to be a blogger...

Ugh!  I have spent way more time trying to customize my blog than I would like to admit.  I wanted more creative flexibility and thought I would find it at WordPress.com, but found that to be way more complicated than I liked...I couldn't get my pictures to show up...so, now I am back on Blogger, but again, I'm having trouble with pictures...the picture at the top of my blog is too big, but I can't figure out how to make it smaller...but, all this must wait because I have class today and I really must get some work done beforehand.  Hopefully, I will have something much more interesting to talk about tonight...

Following the trend...

Well, friends, here I am doing something I never thought I would be doing...blogging. When blogging first came into vogue, my thought was "Who would ever want to read what I am thinking about?" That was because my life consisted of reading, writing papers and teaching...and for some reason, I really didn't think anyone would be interested in what I thought. All that changed for me when I came here to France. All of a sudden I had tons to say and really enjoyed finding fun ways to impart the wisdom I had learned and eye-opening stuff I saw during the day. I was doing this in short little spurts on Facebook, but I have recently realized that what I want to share with my friends often does not fit into a 420 word-limit space. So, here I am trying out a new venue for my musings...
